Responsible for the development of Global Environmental Management System (GEMS), an internet based application and extensive data repository developed from the ground up under my leadership.Funded from the sale of the packaging database from Packtrak, it was my vision that led to the approach taken behind GEMS (Initially called Pack.NET). A flexible meta data design and template patching methods allowed the system to react to changing regulations in the environmental field. Developments to EPR (Packaging Waste, WEEE and Battery directives), RoHS/REACH and more recently Conflict Minerals continue to be represented within the system with ease.I pushed forward the concept of an internet based application leveraging a 3-tier design based on MS-SQL at the data layer, Web Services at the logic layer, and .NET WebForms at the presentation layer. As early adopters of the .NET platform, I was able to position GEMS to be a world-class leading application for environmental compliance.Duties and Responsibilities:• Managing all aspects of software development within the company.• Developing new technologies to expand system capabilities.• Adapting systems through use of existing technologies.• Interfacing with users, sponsors and all other stakeholders in order to determine their evolving needs.• Generating the highest level of system requirements.• Partitioning of large systems into successive layers of subsystems and components each of which can be handled by single engineers or teams.• Interfacing with design and implementation engineers. • Resolution of problems arising during design or implementation.• Ensuring that a maximally robust design is developed.

Responsible for the on-going maintenance of executive information, warehousing and loyalty systems. As the System Architect behind Packtrak, a packaging waste software and the first European Packaging database, I was responsible for the technical design behind the database and architecture of the desktop software to support it. Clients included major U.K grocery retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers.The database was eventually sold to fund the development of Foresite's world-class product compliance software - GEMS.
