David was responsible for the relationship between the client organisation and Kaelo Consulting. His key approach to this task was to ensure excellent service delivery. He identified that the real driver of client value in this space was powerful reporting. David developed and wrote a number of reports in many key areas, to this end. David was thus able to effectively manage the projects and events and internal communications and advertising, and hence drive return on investment. Thus providing programme sustainability and client retention - the essence of his role. David’s exposure to so many different and varied client organisations taught him bravery and a keen ability to rapidly learn about a client’s core business and its key value drivers.

David was recruited into Discovery Health Medical Scheme’s new product for 2007- WellPoint.David liaised with client companies to implement internal wellness campaigns and events, including client side reporting and presentation. David was able to successfully implement the product at a rate much faster than his peers, placinghim in a position of strength when approached by Kaelo to manage a portfolio of their clients.

I used my sales skills on a portfolio of businesses in the catering equipment industry. I successfully built firm relationships and closed deals, helping build on previous turnover targets. I also conducted the Marketing function for the organisation and developed the marketing plan, and implemented it. This role spawned the success of my role years later at Zilmet. In both companies I was mandated to build (from scratch) a marketing function/plan strategy which had not existed before. I accurately executed this with determination and guts, understading from this early career role what it takes to develop and implement a marketing strategy.

I successfully navigated a pure commission based long term insurance sales environment. This required conducting personal financial needs analysis for potential customers. I learnt to manage myself, my time and people around me. I became an adept salesperson, skilled in closing a sale all the way from cold call to signed sealed and delivered. This role as an independent, determined, hard working sales person taught me the fundamentals of Marketing and Sales Management which I would use all through my career. I eventually adapted the sales funnel which I was taught there into an indepth understanding of sales funnels for website marketing.
