Collaborated with my counterpart agency the CONANP (National Protected Areas Commission) in the Natural Protected Area of La Sierra de Álvarez to implement environmentally sustainable projects, to analyze, propose, and verify the potential of small “green” businesses in the protected area. Also assisted existing green businesses in the implementation of better business practices. Partnered with 3 tree nurseries, and an herbal medicinal plants shop, to organize their group membership and roles, diversify their products, instruct in accounting practices, and different marketing and brand labeling strategies. Solicited and administered a $2,800 U.S.A.I.D. Small Project Assistance Grant to build rainwater harvesting systems. Two systems whose total capacity exceeds 27,000 liters were constructed. Programmed an Excel spreadsheet that calculated the necessary specifications for a rainwater harvesting system given existing conditions of the target capture area. The spreadsheet has now been used by 3 different organizations in related rainwater harvesting projects. Developed, implemented, and initiated analysis of an Eco-tourism marketing study project with CONANP. Early analysis indicates potential annual revenues exceeding $180,000 pesos.
