About David Mason

David Mason has a broad mining, business and corporate and background achieved through working in the resources and mining industry for almost 40 years throughout Australasia, Asia, Americas and Africa. David is the Managing Director of NewPeak Metals (ASX:NPM), a mineral resource company developing world-class gold projects in New Zealand, Finland and Argentina.Prior to this, David was an Executive Director of Intra Energy Corporation Limited (ASX:IEC), a mining and energy developer in East Africa. David has had roles as Managing Director of Overseas & General Limited (ASX:OGL) an Indonesian mining company, Operations Director of Haddington Resources (now Altura Mining, ASX:AJM) a lithium spodumene producer, and General Manager of the Swabara Group, which developed the Adaro Indonesia coal mine, the MHU coal mine, a suite of Indonesian exploration assets & mining service companies, and was involved in the early planning of the 1260MW Paiton Power Station. David holds a BSc (Hons) and a PGradDipBA from UQ and an MBA from USQ. He is a Fellow of the AusIMM (CP Mgt), a member of AICD and Chairman of the Australia-Argentina Business Council.

David was involved in all senior corporate roles of the company. David stepped down from Haddington (now Altura, AJM:ASX) in 2009 and pursued the development of his personal mining investments.

David negotiated the purchase of Binamitra Coal and managed its subsequent mining development and operations. He then expanded Minvest into Australia, as firstly a consultancy and various mining services (IEMS Pty Ltd, Minvest Australia Pty Ltd, RGGA Pty Ltd) including drilling (Belldale Enterprise Pty Ltd), then into acquiring resources properties. David then took Minvest into Madagascar where a number of companies were established and resource projects acquired including coal, lignite, uranium and gold and service entities set up.
