I struggled with substance abuse and addiction issues for over 10 years. In the end I gave up and tried to end it all.A few years after my last hospital admission as a patient I walked back into that hospital, but this time, as a qualified practitioner. I went on to work with 1000s of patients and clients, helping them take back control of their lives once and for all.I’m sharing my story with you because I didn’t get well alone. I’d lost count how many times I was taken to intensive care after attempts to take my own life. 3. It took me years, years, and years of being on that roller coaster, getting clean and relapsing over and over before I got well once and for all.What made the difference? I finally understood why conventional methods failed me, that addiction is not just a ‘bad habit’ or even a ‘choice’, it’s actually a disease of the brain against which you can become helpless.
