About David Mcclellan

I’m passionate about creating a safe and limitless future for everyone! You can see this theme running through my volunteer activities (board member of an environmental group protecting the Great Lakes; founding parent and board member of a Waldorf grade school, event manager for a cancer research fundraising swim). I love helping people plan for financial independence and a secure retirement. It's central to my fiduciary duty as a financial advisor. My LinkedIn page shows that I’m not your typical financial advisor. I have 30+ years of professional experience, primarily in wealth management. I’ve held executive roles at Morningstar and Pershing. It was at Morningstar where I found my passion for helping people prepare for retirement, while leading an initiative where I built retirement income planning software for financial advisors and wrote educational content on retirement risks that won the 2007 Excellence in Communications award from InvestmentNews. I also act as Head of Wealth Management Solutions at Aivante, which is trying to improve retirement planning by using machine learning tech to predict a person's retirement medical expenses. I have a Chicago Booth MBA with concentrations in strategy, finance and marketing. My advisory practice is based in Austin, but I serve clients nationwide. With the foundation of this technical knowledge, we can spend more time on what we truly enjoy —getting to know our clients and their families. By understanding the hopes and dreams that reside at the center of someone’s financial life, we are able to design an investment plan that is built to achieve a client’s short- and long-term goals. I lead all strategy, product and sales efforts in the wealth management solutions market. Our cutting-edge machine learning technology creates projections of a client’s lifetime healthcare spending, personalized to their health and location. We offer both API and hosted solutions. The issue of funding healthcare expenses in retirement is a ticking time bomb for investors, as many have inadequate savings to fund this liability. Financial advisors need to build stronger relationships with their clients by embracing conversations such as financial planning, which needs to become more holistic and include topics like funding lifetime health care expenses. A financial plan that doesn’t accurately account for healthcare expenses simply doesn’t have a good chance of success. We enable advisors to help their clients save for retirement healthcare and long term care expenses, as well as make optimal Medicare elections.
