David is one of Australia's most recognised travel journalists and a well respected travel photographer. His articles and photographs have appeared in every major Australian publication as well as magazines and newspapers throughout the world. He has been Australian Travel Writer of the Year and has served terms as President and Vice-President of the Australian Society of Travel Writers. A lawyer by training, David has been a full-time travel writer over several decades. He came into the profession after leaving law to ride a motorcycle around the world - he returned to Australia four years later with an impressive portfolio of published articles. In 1996 he set out to do the trip again - this time covering all continents (he rode his motorcycle in Antarctica in January 1997) and all time zones. A qualified scuba diver and highly awarded sailplane pilot, David seeks out the unusual and the most rewarding parts of the world for his readers. He has completed over 100 voyages to Antarctica and the Arctic and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.David is the author/contributor/editor of some 25 books, including his encyclopaedic books about Antarctica. His library of travel images contains over 180,000 images and his photographs have appeared in many newspapers and magazines, and been used by book publishers, travel organisations and airlines. He appears regularly on several Australian radio programs.For the past 15 years David has been guiding in Antarctica and the Arctic. Over the past decade he has become one of the most experienced Expedition Leaders in Antarctica.
