Led internal project which eventually morphed into the company's primary focus. Designed and built software lifecycle and CI/CD workflow. Made developer's lives better.ActiveState was acquired by Turn/River Capital in December 2020.

Took a weird Smalltalk app written by brilliant Ph.D.s and figured out how to make it run on 10,000 Windows desktops in a distributed computing network so they could do clever, big math things for bioscience customers.

Designed and implemented backend for CPU-chewing "Diabetes PHD" website. This produced sophisticated, personalized health reports to the general public using a large, internal, distributed computing network of desktops.

Senior sales engineer and public vagabond for a VC-backed distributed computing startup. Lots of international, on-site engineering and training (pre and post sales) to technical customers. Biotech adjacent. Also non-voting board member of the company.

Sole developer and sysadmin for a direct mail ad shop. Chewed through the '90s idea of "big data." Brought the company onto the Internet. Kept the LAN, website, and email flowing. Kept Macs and Windows machines from fighting. Wrote a bespoke agency management software suite that everyone loved.

Indianapolis, Indiana Area

Sole sysadmin for a 50 employee insurance agency. Learned an unhealthy amount of Novell NetWare and some staggeringly obscure late-'80s x86 hardware. Dragged company kicking and screaming away from faxes onto email. Wrote a bunch of in-house process apps. Replaced a lot of toner cartridges.

Birmingham, Alabama Area

On the road throughout the Deep South working for a small systems integrator. Pulled miles of cat5 cable, breathed life back into countless computers, got my hands at least sort of dirty with seemingly every obscure technology on every OSI level. Installed Microsoft Xenix more than once. It was a weird time in the early '90s.
