Provision of consultancy services on an ad-hoc basis with regards to the company’s accounting department, including liaising with key personnel within the company’s accounting function and reviewing and assessing the accounting department internal control systems and providing recommendations to the directors with regards to the strengths, weaknesses and potential improvements to be within the department. Researching and advising on various accounting, audit and tax matters raised by the company’s financial controller.

Overseeing audits from the planning stage (co-ordinating directly with clients the timing and location of the audit) through to completion, preparing statutory accounts for review by the senior managers and partners.Completing specialised audits including enterprises regulated under the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Teachers Pension Agency Audits and companies regulated under the Financial Services Authority.

My duties and responsibilities included the preparation of management accounts and financial statements in a statutory format, for the company’s portfolio of clients which included small limited companies, partnerships and sole proprietors. Payroll bureau duties - preparing weekly and monthly payroll summaries, payslips and advising clients of their liability to tax and national insurance and preparing year end payroll forms.Company secretarial – preparation of annual returns, associated documentation and the maintenance of the client’s statutory records. Taxation – preparation of corporation tax computations, completion of client tax return forms, preparation of VAT return calculations and advising the clients of the respective liabilities to tax.
