6+ years of Tech Lead experience, 3+ years of management experience. My current focus is as a TL in Fan Funding, which covers Channel Memberships and the "Super Suite" of products (Super Chat, et al). My historical areas of work also include Trust/Safety, Comments, Subscriptions, Community Posts, experiment design/analysis, view counting, and unique user estimation procedures.

OpenIntro was formed to improve education by reducing costs and increasing quality through the production of unique and original products. Our flagship products are introductory statistics textbooks, which may be purchased on Amazon for ≤$20 or downloaded for free from openintro.org. The textbooks have been used in courses at many high schools, colleges, and universities, saving students an estimated $12+ million since the start of the project, where the savings is currently about $2 million annually.

As a postdoc at Harvard Biostatistics, I have focused on solving interesting and important questions using data analysis, statistical computation, and data visualization techniques. This experience includes the development of statistical methodology and careful applied work in areas such as text scraping/mining, air pollution, and the efficacy of smoking bans. During these projects, I have employed a variety of statistical methods, from generalized linear mixed models to Bayesian variable selection. I have worked both independently and with other statisticians, computer scientists, and researchers to identify (or develop) the most appropriate statistical method for the data and question in each context. Additionally, I have been the primary contributor to nearly a dozen packages for R statistical software, six of which are now publicly available online under GNU general public licenses.

Primarily independent work, this included weekly and semester scheduling duties, managing the climbing wall, and leading outdoor trips. I worked for the Center for Outdoor Adventure for an additional two years prior to the program assistant position.

Working in the class and outside the class, I moderated study sessions, proctored, graded homeworks and quizzes, and fielded students’ questions in and out of class.
