Engaged as an independent contractor to safely and consistently deliver worthwhile projects, on time, to delighted stakeholders in the capital goods / heavy engineering / process plant sectors. Achievements include;1) Assisted a client in the project management of the largest contract in the company's history (involving the design and supply of major capital equipment to a gas project in Australia) with particular responsibility for schedule development, identification and communication of the critical path together with the formulation of action plans/priorities with internal and external stakeholders to keep the project on track. The project was delivered to the agreed schedule2) Advised and assisted a start up business to establish a food production facility. Responsibilities included- Formulation of the Business Plan- Overall facility layout and equipment specifications- Equipment procurement- Formulation of health and safety policy and risk assessments- Formulation of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Plan3) Project Manager on a portfolio of multi-disciplined, $multi-million capital investment projects to improve health, safety and environmental performance, extend the life of the asset and increase productivity at a large process plant in the UK. Responsibilities included:- Achieving project milestones whilst maintaining continuous production- Applying the organisations safe system of work including a review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements leading to the issue of Permits To Work. - Acting as Principal Contractor in accordance with CDM regulations, including the preparation of the Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan, appointment of a Temporary Works Co-ordinator and compilation of a Temporary Works Register- Subcontractor management and co-ordination- Cost, Scope, Schedule and Quality Management- Contributed to the development of the organisation's project management capabilities

Achievements include;1) Project Management Consultant, based in Saudi Arabia on a complex, turnkey, $multi-million soft drinks bottling plant project (the largest of its kind in the world) with particular responsibility for the development of an Integrated Master Schedule (using Microsoft Project). This entailed the integration of schedules from a multitude of diverse subcontractors into a single schedule for the whole project including;- Interpreting and checking the accuracy and integrity of the schedules, which are submitted in different styles, formats and varying levels of detail, using the PMI Standard for Scheduling as a guideline.- Establishing the interdependencies between the subcontractors- Establishing and communicating the critical path and other risk issues to the project stakeholders followed by the facilitation and implementation of the agreed response strategiesThis is a fast track project with a challenging target for first production.2) Project Management Consultant, based in the UAE, responsible for leading a multi-disciplined team engaged the project management of a $multi-million steel process plant project (the first of its kind in the Middle East) on behalf of the end user. Responsibilities included;- Supervision of a complex series of performance trials- Resolution of non conformities and defects- Management of EPC Contractor- Vetting of final documentation- Resolution of claims and backcharges- Management of Health and Safety- Communication with all stakeholders- Plant takeover

Responsible for the interim project management of a $multi-million turnkey process plant project at a greenfield site in Saudi Arabia. Most notable achievements included;- Developed the Project Management Plan, Work Breakdown Structure, Risk Management Plan and Project Control Procedures- Assisted in establishing a multi-disciplined project team, including role definition, selection and recruitment.- Developed a fully integrated schedule covering all aspects and phases of the project (using Microsoft Project) thus identifying the critical path- Finalised the contract with the Main (EPC) Contractor which enabled the project to proceed- Produced pre-qualification and invitation to tender documents for civil / structural works and equipment installation.

Achievements included;- Leading contributor to the creation of a standardized design to reduce costs and lead times- Completed the Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation specifications for multiple, concurrent projects in accordance with an agreed schedule, which enabled the client to achieve their year end target.- Completed a project to facilitate the disposal of redundant land & assets owned by a major utility company. This was a new venture and was delivered on time & within budget.
