David Michaelson, Ph.D. has decades of experience, having conducted over 2,000 high quality, actionable research studies for numerous Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 companies as well as leading non-profits. His clients include some of the largest financial service, technology, and consumer package goods companies as well as leading philanthropies and universities. He has extensive experience in information technology, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, employee communications, media analysis and strategic message development.Dr. Michaelson is a research fellow of the Institute for Public Relations, recipient of the Jackson, Jackson & Wagner Behavioral Science Prize awarded for outstanding contributions to the research body of knowledge, 2009 Measurement/Research Expert of the Year and induction into the Measurement Hall of Fame in 2013. He has also received numerous other awards including two Silver Anvils from PRSA. Along with Dr. Don W. Stacks is the author of the award winning "A Professional and Practitioner's Guide to Public Relations Research, Measurement, and Evaluation" and three other books on communication research.Prior to reopening his current practice, Dr. Michaelson was Global Director of Research and Insights as well as a Senior Advisor at Teneo. Dr. Michaelson also held positions as president and chief research officer of Echo Research and managing director/head of research for Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide. Before joining Ogilvy, he was a managing director at GCI Group and a principal of David Michaelson & Associates, Inc., a full-service research company serving the communications industry. Prior to founding his own firm, Dr. Michaelson was a director of research at Burson-Marsteller.Dr. Michaelson is an emeritus member of the Commission on Public Relations Evaluation and Measurement and is a frequent speaker on measurement issues facing the public relations industry. He holds a Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from the Graduate Faculty of Political and Social Science of the New School for Social Research and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Massachusetts.
