During my time at William Blair I led alternatives research for the firm’s private wealth management platform. By identifying market opportunities, sourcing and leading due diligence on best-in-class funds and operators, and educating our counselors/advisors on how to implement these strategies in portfolios, I was able to expand our clients’ exposure to differentiated return profiles. Beyond developing a robust qualitative and quantitative research process for these offerings, I co-founded the firm’s asset allocation committee and co-managed a set of investible model portfolios.

As a senior professional my primary responsibilities were to source and research alternative strategies structured both as commingled funds and operating partnerships. My areas of expertise included real estate, hedge funds, asset-based lending, oil and gas, private equity, and timber. In addition to mentoring junior analysts, I also led client meetings for family members and outside clients when establishing asset allocation objectives and making investment recommendations.

As the sole dedicated investment professional on staff, my responsibilities were to execute and administer the investment policies for Rotary International, the Rotary Foundation, and the Rotary International defined benefit plan. In addition to performing manager due diligence on both traditional and alternative opportunities, I drafted and presented investment communications to the Board of Trustees/Directors.

Within the U.S. equity research group, I was responsible for the collection and analysis of data from financial statements and other SEC filings on publicly-traded equities. In addition to compiling this data for our proprietary software product, I consulted with the editorial team regarding client communications and with the technical team on product enhancements.
