I am a Professional Engineer, with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. I have experience with DuPont that includes manufacturing at an integrated chemical site on the Gulf Coast and as a subject matter expert in a corporate consultant role. I have touched many of the global DuPont manufacturing facilities and quite a few non-DuPont sites. The following is a short bio for me.David M.J. Lauterbach is a Principal Consultant in the Energy Engineering Group of DuPont’s corporate Engineering department. Dave has over 38 years of energy engineering and energy management experience with DuPont delivering solutions for the corporation. With plant operation experience and technology expertise, he currently acts as the Subject Matter Expert in the area of Energy in the corporate Engineering Technology Center. His efforts are typically focused on identifying, evaluating, and implementing energy efficiency improvements to help DuPont businesses achieve their energy use and cost goals. He also has experience establishing facility energy management programs and in business energy strategy development. His specialties include:• Boilers, burners, combustion control and combustion safety systems.• Steam, compressed air, process heat transfer fluid, and cogeneration systems.• Facility energy use assessments.• Business and plant energy planning and metrics.• Application of Six Sigma tools to reduce energy costs.• Third party utility supply arrangements.• Utility system optimization modeling for least cost operation.• Heat & Mass Balance development.• Energy system capacity evaluations.• Creation and presentation of energy training programs for engineers, operators and management.Mr. Lauterbach has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics from West Virginia University. He is a registered Professional Engineer (Texas), and a certified Six Sigma Green Belt. He is an active member on the NFPA Technical Committees for combustion safeguards. He is on the Advisory Board of the Industrial Energy Technology Conference of Texas A&M University.
