My role was to manage my team and to work closely with the management companies and the sales & marketing and public relations teams to drive the performance of the hotels in their care. For the franchise or non-managed hotels (including Featherdale Wildlife Park) a direct and hands-on management style was required. This entailed managing any staffing of sales and marketing teams at each property, the oversight of the public relations and events at a property level, media management and advertising. Brochures, sales kits, photography, social media, promotions, sponsorships and VIP management was also part of my duties. From time to time, I was sent to manage special projects at any given property or asset, such as managing visits by Heads of State, press conferences, upgrades to hotels facilities or on-site renovation planning. I regularly ran staff training sessions at the hotels, creating a program called “Presentation, Passion & Performance”, which was a cross-departmental program, focussing on grooming standards, guest interaction and team motivation. As the portfolio grew, our roles became more specialised, meaning that during my tenure at Elanor, I had several titles “Group Sales Manager”, Group Director of Sales & Marketing” and “Head of Public Relations & Events”.

This incorporates media and P.R. events for the precinct as well as specific hotel activities for the Accor portfolio in NSW. The greater aim is to ensure that the Accor portfolio is presented in a professional and accessible way while also spruiking the vast array of advantages that staying in an Accor hotel offers the market. My day to day responsibilities include looking for P.R. opportunities for our hotels, the management of media famils, implementation of P.R. events and representing the hotels in media interviews. I was responsible for all aspects of hotel marketing and public relations, with the responsibility of increasing the profile of the hotel and to oversee the provision of market leading customer service, to both external & internal clients. Arranging media famils and hosting events to ensure the hotels had a premium place in the market. Promotions on social media and industry publications were also part of my responsibilities. I worked daily with the Yield Manager to drive REVPAR and to ensure that occupancy and rate grew accordingly. Staff management and progression assessment along with performance reviews were also part of my responsibilities. During my tenure at Pier One, the hotel added new function rooms and suites. I implemented a very successful launch event for the new conference rooms and ran a 5-month promotion “Business With Class”, targeting the C&E market. During this time, the Harbour Rocks Hotel was totally redeveloped into 4.5-star boutique property., for which I created and managed the gala launch event. The social and industry media, along with the strategic corporate guest list resulted in excellent market awareness, positioning and traction.

I implemented strategies to secure new clients as well as retaining incumbent clients.
