In this role, David works closely with the families of those killed and injured in the 9/11 attacks, rescue and recovery workers, and military families and wounded warrior organizations. He oversees national program strategy, public policy, governmental relations, partnerships and fundraising, leveraging a deep professional network of nonprofit leaders, elected officials, celebrities, corporations, media and Internet companies, marketers, and others to build nationwide support for 9/11 Day. Along with his co-founder Jay Winuk (a 9/11 family member), David guided a powerful public affairs effort that resulted in Congress and the White House joining together in 2009 to pass bipartisan legislation that formally established September 11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. Today, 9/11 Day has become the largest annual day of charitable engagement in the United States, with more than 40 million people engaging in good deeds, volunteerism and charity in tribute to the victims of 9/11 and those who rose in service in response to the attacks. For the upcoming 15th anniversary of 9/11, David helped form and is leading a coalition of 40 prominent nonprofits supporting "Tomorrow Together," a five-year initiative to inspire unity, empathy and service among people throughout America.
