I am a highly adaptable and resilient medical epidemiologist with over 20 years’ experience in public health practice at the national, regional, and international levels. I have contributed immensely in strengthening public health systems to prevent, detect, or respond to emerging pandemics especially through a multisectoral and multidisciplinary approach. After a short stint as a medical practitioner, I later served as a District Medical Officer of Health in a remote district in Kenya, and later as the head of the Division of Disease Surveillance and Outbreak Response in the Ministry of Health Kenya, where I oversaw all country preparedness and response to acute public health events. Besides rich national experience where I partnered with all major international partners, I have also worked at the international level with organizations such as WHO and U.S. CDC in several countries in Africa and beyond including South Sudan, Congo, Uganda, South Africa and Thailand, among others. Between 2015 and December 2018, I worked with Palladium LLC in the USAID-funded Preparedness and Response Project as the Regional One Health Technical Advisor for East Africa. From June 2019 to March 2024, I have been working as the Kenya Team Lead for the USAID-funded Infectious Disease Detection and Surveillance (IDDS) project, and the Country Representative for ICF International in Kenya since May 2020.Besides my global health security work and passion, I have interest in financial markets, where I am a Director and Chair of the Arvocap Asset Managers Board of Directors.
