Mr. David M. Walters’ experience centers on the research, design, development and operations of mechanical systems. He currently is gaining experience in the exciting and rapidly growing field of data center engineering. Serving in the role of Lead Mechanical Design Engineer on the Data Center Engineering team at AWS. He has acted as the mechanical engineering lead on proposals for two multi-million dollar IDIQ vehicle programs. He has been involved in all aspects of product design and development from concept through production including, concept generation, detailed (3D CAD) design, prototyping, fabrication, quoting, procurement, assembly, technical writing, design reviews, testing, validation, and design quality, like FMEA, DVP&R, P-Diagrams, and DFMA. Mr. Walters also has had active rules in the review for production release of biological detection systems. He also serves his business unit as an internal auditor for ISO 9001 compliance. Furthermore, Mr. Walters participated in a series of brainstorming sessions and was instrumental in creating three patentable designs for a commercial sporting goods client. He was one of the four people named on the three resulting patents.Born and raised in Ohio, he earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio Northern University and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University. In his leisure time Mr. Walters enjoys reading leadership books and biographies, outdoor activities including rock climbing, adventure races (such as Tough Mudder), and woodworking. He also enjoy playing board games with friends and family, and listening to audiobooks/podcasts while working in the garage.
