I am a first-generation Latino student at the University of Nevada Las Vegas with a major in criminal justice. In high school, it was a challenge being enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) as I had a 2.0 GPA in my freshman year. The IB program was a very rigorous and demanding course that was designed to prepare students for higher education, but I was determined to raise my GPA and go to college by taking on whatever assignment the program had designed. By my senior year, I managed to raise my GPA to 3.1 and got accepted to UNLV. In my time at UNLV, I have increased my GPA from 3.1 to 3.7 and have given every bit of effort in assignments and extracurriculars. In my senior year, I made a large effort to earn a spot as an attorney on the UNLV Mock Trial Team despite having no experience until this point. I competed at 2 fall tournaments and 2 spring tournaments as the UNLV Plaintiff Middle Attorney. In 2020, I began working at Hokkaido Teppanyaki Steakhouse as a busboy for a month before being promoted to hosting. As host, I was in charge of organizing tables, managing reservations, and providing customer service, providing a successful and smooth experience for the staff and customers. 1 month later I was promoted to waiter where I had to manage multiple tables at once to ensure quality service. After 3 months, I was promoted to the head waiter and coordinated and managed the staff and how we operated in the restaurant to ensure efficiency and quality.
