Some of my clients know me as the front-end developer who built their web app, mobile app, game, or marketing site. Others have hired me to design, or just tweak the user experience of an existing project. A few have even called me in after a site breach to assess the damage, restore their site, and protect them from further security risks. For me, every day is different.Recently I've been working with machine learning (specifically Amazon and Google Cloud's language learning Apis) to enhance the user experience and value of apps. Northward CompassOrlando, Fl, Us -
Owner, Designer, Developer, Illustrator, MarketerNorthward Compass Aug 2017 - PresentOrlando, UsI have freelanced on-and-off since 2008, but this round has proven to be the most diverse yet. Most days I handle full-stack developer-like tasks, writing apps in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, NodeJS, and MySQL. (Most people want me to specify JavaScript libraries like: AngularJS, Angular 2-6, NodeJS (express), VueJS, and PhantomJS.) I also launch a lot of sites in WordPress, and have even worked with Shopify, Squarespace and the PerchCMS. When I’m not developing, I’m usually designing apps, sites, or games. I especially love interactive, and well-animated, immersive things. I have launched a number of iOS apps, including one for a major Disney artist to be used on location at Disney Springs. I also recently lead a small team to produce a game in a very short period of time. We took third place overall. I got to work on the 3D, atmosphere and sound portions of the game, as well as wrote all the C# code in Unity. As part of my more DevOps life, I’ve been making things scale with Amazon’s AWS platform (using S3, EC2, ELB, RDS (MySQL), CloudFront, and EFS technologies) or DigitalOcean’s droplet, firewall, and load balancer options. Once in awhile I also even get to do neat things like work with machine learning, typically around Amazon’s Natural Language Processing and Google’s Natural Language APIs. -
