OmniSonics developed an ultrasonic endovascular thrombectomy device to treat patients with peripheral vascular occlusions such as deep vein thrombosis [in english...we made a device that broke up blood clots inside blood vessels]. Despite large venture investments, an FDA approved, initially selling device and a large co-development deal with a top multinational medical device company to develop another product, OmniSonics folded in the wake of the economic downturn of 2008.
