With over 30 years of experience in the sports industry, I am passionate about elevating the youth sports experience, one leader and one organization at a time. My life's path has been profoundly influenced by sports, as an Athlete, Coach and Club Executive. Relationships I've formed, educational choices I've made, and my career all stem from my love for sports. Sports have not only shaped my character, but cultivated leadership skills, bolstered confidence, and instilled a positive perspective on life. My goal is to contribute significantly to the advancement of youth sports, ensuring that as many children as possible can enjoy similar enriching experiences. Through sports, I've built a valuable network of influential figures overseeing organizations that serve hundreds of thousands of young athletes. My mission is to harness this network to foster collaboration for the benefit of all participants.As a Director of IYSL, I lead a team of experts who provide training, education, and consulting services to youth sports organizations, coaches, and parents. Our mission is to improve the quality of leadership in youth sports and create a positive and safe environment for young athletes. We form executive leadership collaboratives, host leadership training events and perform comprehensive assessments of youth sports clubs.As the Director of Development at Phoenix Rising FC, I oversee strategic planning, programing, and partnership development for the club. On a day to day basis I have the ultimate prize of working with young athletes and helping them in the early stages of their youth sports career.

In 2010, NSCAA asked Newbery to implement his assessment model and lead an international project - the 'Club Standards Project' - an assessment process and initiative to raise the performance of players, coaches and the clubs - one club at a time! Before the program was furloughed in 2018, Newbery and team had collected data from over 2000 youth clubs and evaluated over 100.
