Also supervised team leader for the zoning inspectors responsible for enforcing the Arlington County Zoning Ordinance. Served as a “back-up” for the Front Counter Supervisor and served in this capacity for two months during the summer of 2011. Assisted the Zoning Administrator in all facets of supervision in the Zoning Office. Was very concerned about staff needs and employee moral, and lead efforts, developed matrices, and wrote numerous reports to justify and hire additional staff. Developed and monitored work processes which improved the efficiency of the office, including hiring a file clerk to inventory and maintain the hundreds of files which must be retained as a part of the public record. Also sat on the Core Team studying documents governance in preparation for instituting “best practices” for scanning all vital records in the Zoning Division. In addition, I instituted improved site plan review policies and worked with the Planning Division and the Department of Environmental Services (DES) on updating standard site plan conditions. I continually assisted the Zoning Administrator in resolving interagency issues and, especially concerning new schools construction, and had an excellent repour and working relationship with the County Building Official and his staff, as well as various staff within CPHD and DES.
