Texas Rural Education Association Risk Management Cooperative (TREA RMC) is a service oriented, self-funded and self-governed risk pool focusing on rural public-school districts. The governing board’s goal was clear and focused. Rejuvenate the Cooperative for the purposes of protecting the existing members assets, exposures and identify responsible growth opportunities. Key Responsibilities• Overall management and leadership of the TREA RMC ($4.75 Billion assets) • Developing risk management strategies and policies • Procurement and management of excess insurance • Development and implementation of marketing strategy (increased membership from 45 districts to 95 districts) • Development and implementation of loss control processes to protect member Districts • Development and implementation of tools to identify of member services to support rural school District’s shortage of human and financial resourcesThe successful solution to rejuvenate the TREA RMC was to provide a portfolio of risk that was desirable for excess insurance while not exposing the TREA RMC members to erratic swings in excess insurance premiums. In addition, successfully implemented a solution that altered the typical self-insurance model to a model that required each school district in the Cooperative to accept more financial responsibility. Thereby creating a financial outcome that is successful, manageable and predictable.

As regional developer for Transforming Architecture my responsibilities included management oversight, recruitment, standards development, partnership development / management and financial management for the South Region.Transforming Architecture was a unique approach to assisting small firms connect through a franchise network. The purpose of the franchise is to provide firms with standards, advertising, networking opportunities and identifying and maintaining a network of preferred contractors. The end goal was to develop more opportunities for small firms to have the resources to pursue larger projects and operate to the same standard of care as a larger firm.

Managing member for a multi-faceted company that focused on commercial insurance, real estate strategies, program management for public school districts and establishing captive insurance companies for private companies. Responsible for business development, proposal preparation, contract administration and financial performance. Client Representative for Texas Rural Education Association Risk Management Cooperative. Responsible for business development, application preparation, coordination of preferred contractors and claims management. Key Projects• Develop existing structures in downtown Lake Jackson, Texas. Coordinated development effort with the City of Lake Jackson to finance, renovate, design existing buildings for commercial use.• Masterplan for the City of Lake Jackson. Participated as a stakeholder for the City Masterplan including selection of the design firm, development of master plan priorities and final presentation and acceptance to the City Council.• City of Lake Jackson Downtown Redevelopment. Participated as a stakeholder, selection of design firm, development of design, project phasing final presentation to City Council and Downtown Business organizations.

Northern Va / Washington Dc

Development Manager for the Project and Development Services Government Practice. Responsible for marketing, proposal preparation, standards development, financial performance, project quality and aligning staff expertise to execute Government Projects. Maintained Secret Clearance.Key Projects• The rehabilitation of the St. Elizabeths West Campus a National Historic Landmark with 1,000,000 square feet of existing structures to assist in the economic and social revitalization of the surrounding Anacostia and Congress Heights neighborhoods and to breathe new life into a decayed and underutilized, but incomparable site. The key to the successful realization of the potential of the West Campus is the development of an overall plan and specific projects that leverage the site’s assets while retaining and preserving its rich and varied historic resources. Phase 1 was developing the guidelines for the US Coast Guard Headquarters totaling 1,000,000 square feet schematic design. Phase 2 was developing the guidelines for 3,500,000 square feet of new and renovated construction for undesignated departments of the Department of Homeland Security.

Studio Director for Gensler’s Northern Virginia office with daily responsibility of 30 architects and designers. Responsible for financial performance, project quality, marketing and appropriation of staff for the design and execution of projects. Also, directly responsible for project management of projects listed below. Maintained Secret Clearance.Key Projects• United States Patent and Trademark Office Consolidation (USPTO) 2,500,000 square feet, Alexandria, VA. Led a team of architects, interior designers, engineers, strategic planners and as part of the design / build team for LCOR, developer for the Federal Government. Worked with Government stakeholders to confirm project requirements and the LCOR lease were in alignment. Due to the fast-track schedule worked integrally with Turner, the construction manager. Also participated in capital planning effort to save LCOR $20 million and shorten the schedule by four months.• United States Patent and Trademark Office Real Estate Strategy for the GSA, Alexandria, VA. Prior to consolidation, USPTO was located on 117 floors in 35 leases. I led the effort to identify the most efficient process of relocation by organizing the expiring leases and maximizing the productivity. This process saved the Federal Government $90 million.• Department of Defense Portfolio Analysis, Washington DC & Northern VA• Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. National Harbor, Maryland. Project Manager for design through construction administration of 17 floor 2,400,000 square foot facility that included 550,000 square feet of conference space, 1886 hotel rooms, seven restaurants and European spa. The construction was a fast-track construction manager at risk contract. • United States Secret Service. Various locations. Manager within the Corporate Facilities Management Department of a $4 billion international building products manufacturer. Responsible for leading and managing the planning, architecture, interior design, engineering, and furniture acquisition for new and existing facilities. Also responsible for utilization and performance of existing facilities, capital and expense budgeting, audio/visual technology, employee relocation between facilities, management of furniture standards and customer tours of the corporate campus.
