Managed the Product Development team. 70+ people in engineering, software development, technology transfer, and engineering services (machine shop and proto lab). Our team focused on developing new IVD molecular diagnostic devices, often for military applications. Managed the Program Management team with responsibilities for the company’s multi-department projects and OEM partnerships. The FilmArray (filmarray.com) development and launch was managed and coordinated by my Program Management team. The FilmArray was launched in 2011. Last year, BioFire Diagnostics sold more than $600M in FilmArray products.

I started the Food Security business unit--leveraging our existing PCR products and intellectual property. My team also managed the Company’s biosurveillance business including JBAIDS (Joint Biological Agent Identification and Diagnostic System http://biofiredefense.com/jbaids/) and RAZOR product lines (http://biofiredefense.com/support/razor-support/).

Coordinated the successful development and on-time launch of the JBAIDS platform, a field-worthy, FDA approved system for identifying biothreat targets from a variety of sample types. With cumulative revenues exceeding $100 million, the JBAIDS was deployed in hundreds of sites around the world.

Lead mechanical engineer and project manager of the LightTyper/LightScanner instrument platform, a high resolution DNA melting device. Engineered a unique rotary bead beater as part of a project to deploy biothreat detection technology to the US Post Office to detect biothreat agents in mail.

I worked on the LightCycler and R.A.P.I.D. instrumentation projects. I developed initial packaging for R.A.P.I.D. freeze-dried reagents, which have sold more than 10 million tests and are still in production now. I was the lead designer of the Indy air thermocycler, which was later licensed to Roche.
