As an accomplished executive leader with over 20 years of extensive experience in senior management roles within public health, I specialize in the intersection of data, evidence and digital transformation of the health sector. Currently, I serve as the Unit Head and Regional Adviser at the World Health Organization, where I spearhead the Digital Health Flagship Initiative and oversee the Data, Monitoring and Analytics programme across the European Region. My efforts were recognized with the WHO Director-General's Award for Excellence in 2022.My career is driven by a commitment to placing countries at the forefront of health initiatives, employing a data-driven and evidence-based approach to achieve impactful outcomes. I excel in executing complex, large-scale projects at both national and regional levels, consistently delivering results with precision and quality. My leadership style fosters collaboration and teamwork, creating a positive and respectful work environment while effectively guiding cross-functional teams toward shared goals.A lifelong learner, I embrace intellectual curiosity as a catalyst for growth. I hold a Master’s and Ph.D. in Information Sciences from the University Carlos III of Madrid (UC3M), where my doctoral dissertation received the Outstanding Thesis award. Additionally, I earned a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Bordeaux and the Public University of Navarre, complemented by several Certificate Programs in digital transformation and public health informatics. I also contribute to the academic community as a member of the editorial board for the International Journal of Medical Informatics, and I serve pro bono as an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at University College London, as well as an adjunct professor at the University of Utah.
