Responsible for the proper accounting for all financial transactions across the institute. This includes establishing clear & concise accounting policies and procedures, the maintenance of a robust and effective internal control environment, establishing and maintaining an efficient financial systems environment and providing excellent transactional support services to the institute. Specific accomplishments include:• Reorganized the Controller’s Office team to ensure that we had the technical and professional leaders in place to provide the leadership, scalability and sustainability to support the Institute.• Led a major upgrade to our accounting infrastructure to ensure that our system environment was providing the Institute with the appropriate financial capabilities to support our continued growth domestically and internationally.• Led the effort to re-compete and ultimately switch external accounting firms. Successfully completed the transition and we now have a firm in place to better support our future growth initiatives.

Responsible for the technical and transactional accounting activities across the institute. This includes the General Ledger team, Billing, Revenue Recognition, Contract Closeout, Accounts Payable, T&E, Payroll, Global Tax, Property Control and International Accounting and Compliance. Specific initiatives included:• Implementation of our Regional Controller model to support our field based finance teams • Establishing a routine reporting structure to provide increased visibility to field office financial performance. This reporting structure provided the framework to significantly improve our overall accounting quality and reduce our financial risks while performing our work• Led the effort to design and implement a global payment platform via cross border accounts with our leading international banking partner• Create a monthly reporting routine of accounting operations that compared our monthly processing performance versus negotiated service level agreements and external benchmarks

Responsible for the accounting operations of our international project offices where we are active in over 75 project offices, across more than 40 countries, processing in excess of $90 million dollars annually. Led the initiative to design and deploy Quickbooks to all of our international project offices during 2010. The initiative integrated Quickbooks with a document scanning solution and a customized data extract utility to enable a true global monthly closing routine. Post implementation we were able to reduce our expense processing time by one full month. Simultaneous with our deployment of Quickbooks, I led the development of an International Field Office Finance manual that contained detailed process flow diagrams and the identification of all key controls for the respective process areas.

Responsible for the implementation of a Sarbanes-Oxley like internal controls program for the institute. Led a combination of internal and external resources to document, test, remediate and validate the effectiveness of our internal control environment. Coordinated all project related communication from Audit Committee and the Executive Leadership Team through to Steering Committees, Business Process Owners, Business Cycle Champions, Subject Matter Experts, as well as institute wide general project status updates. The project ultimately received recognition as a “Presidents Award” winner.
