Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit; wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad. Many organizations function with data siloed within various groups. It’s not surprising to see many groups within said organizations build their process around Excel. Sadly, it’s these outdated, archaic processes – offline, Excel spreadsheets that drive analysis, decision-making and information gathering.Don’t get me wrong, Excel is a versatile tool and great for ad hoc reporting, a large organization cannot function on it alone. This is where it pays to have that one individual that has the wisdom to integrate the Power Platform. I am a self-starter, a tinkerer, and an intrepid explorer of new ideas and processes. I am a technology enthusiast and hobbist, especially as it pertains to data and automation. Adopting a curious mindset, I’ve learned various tools and concepts throughout my tenure in education, finance and, now, supply chain. I have coached and shared my knowledge so that the benefits are scalable.Some examples of my handiwork include:• Using Power Automate, I built a process that assisted users in moving inventory. This was inventory that was to be discarded so it was taking up space. Previously, this was managed via offline spreadsheets and processes were inconsistent – not everyone acted off the of same data, not everyone was receiving notifications, etc.• I was the architect for Power BI within the Supply Chain group. This included workspace administration, data modeling via dataflows, Power Query M and DAX. I designed it in such a way where other groups could leverage our datasets to reduce duplicate efforts.As you can see, I love simplifying the complex, especially if it's using tools such as the Power Platform.
