I successfully managed, rehabbed, and flipped residential real estate. Over the years, I bought and sold about 30 single and multi-family properties. Of these, more than 75% required minor to extensive renovations. In addition to my own properties, my staff of three and I managed more than 110 rental units for other property owners.

Designed, developed, and supported a series of commercially marketed commodity trading software packages, online trading data services, and support and marketing websites for a client firm. For over a decade, their ideas and vision were brought to life in four comprehensive, easy to use software packages and two related on-line services. Responsible for design and development, testing, documentation and user's manuals, and support of the software and services. Provided prompt, knowledgable, and courteous email, fax (yes, faxes), and telephone support to a variety of end users with many different temperaments and knowledge levels. The software was originally written in Visual Basic 6 (eventually converted to Visual Basic .Net) and the online services were written in HTML, PHP, ASP (VBScript), PERL. Registered users of the trading software used the online services to automatically feed trading data into the software on an end-of-day basis. The software also interfaced with a number of third-party data vendors. The websites provided marketing information, front-line technical support, and software updates.

• One of two developers for the company’s web sites, responsible for design, development, testing, documentation, support and security. • Development languages used were JAVA, JAVA servlets, EJB, JavaScript, and HTML. JAVA applets were also used. Interfaced with numerous DB2, MS-SQL, and Access databases using JDBC. • The web sites provided the company’s 700 plus agents with access to on-line insurance quotes, billing inquiry, and claim inquiry.• Sole Visual Basic developer, responsible for design, development, testing, documentation, and support of existing and new Visual Basic applications using VB5 and VB6. Interface with numerous DB2, MS-SQL, and Access databases using RDO/ADO and ODBC.• In support of the JAVA and Visual Basic development work, performed tasks on the company’s two AS/400’s on a daily basis. Tasks included querying data tables and their structures, data scrubbing, writing and compiling SQL stored procedures, and reviewing COBOL applications that interfaced with the JAVA and VB applications.• Responsible for cross-training COBOL programmers in the JAVA programming language and the company's Internet development effort.

• Responsible for the day-to-day operation of all aspects of this computer sales and service business, including the management of nine employees and 450 customer sales and service accounts. • Required to prioritize the time and activities of employees and myself to solve complex problems of customers and to maximize the output of the business.• Sold new and used computer equipment, serviced and repaired computer equipment of all types, installed and supported Novell, Windows, and other networks.• Developed and supported custom software and database systems, and provided service contracts.• In early 1995, the company started a full-service Internet service business that offered dial-up and dedicated Internet access accounts, website hosting and development, sales and service of internet equipment, and internet consulting services. This part of the business quickly grew to over 200 individual and business accounts.• The sales and service business was sold in early 1996. The Internet business was sold at the end of 1996.
