In my position as an Environmental Scientist for the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board (“Regional Water Board”), I work with diverse stakeholders and specialize in environmental law and regulation compliance. My primary job duties include developing and executing various strategies for compliance assistance, including bringing formal enforcement cases to hearing before the Board. I always strive to provide exceptional customer service to entities the Regional Water Board regulates, and I work cooperatively with permittees to achieve compliance whenever possible. I perform water quality regulation enforcement for the Industrial and the Construction Storm Water General Permits, the 401 permitting program, and other California and Federal water code violations. I am the Spill Response Coordinator for the Regional Water Board and regularly attend USCG Sector San Francisco Area Contingency Plan Meetings and actively participate in various spill drills and exercises. Spill response coordination has allowed me work with various individuals and agencies sharing a common interest in Bay ecology and the mitigation of environmental harm. I excel at and enjoy finding solutions to resolve problems and managing communications between government agencies, non-governmental organizations, businesses and property owners. I have been working in the field of environmental science since 2007. • Wadeable stream bioassessment and reservoir monitoring to determine water quality standards attainment as required by the Clean Water Act.• Reservoir monitoring utilizing Van Dorn sampler to take vertical point water samples in order to test for temperature, pH, specific conductivity, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, total phosphorous, NO3+NO2-N, ammonia-N and chlorophyll-α and Hydrolab multi-parameter data sonde in order to establish riverine, transitional and lacustrine vertical water chemistry profiles at littoral and pelagic sites.• Uploading reservoir survey data and creating spreadsheet, presentation quality charts and graphs.• Water sample collection to test for temperature, pH, specific conductivity, dissolved oxygen, total suspended solids, hardness, turbidity, alkalinity, chloride, sulfate, total phosphorous, NO3+NO2-N, total nitrogen, total kjeldahl nitrogen, heavy metals, VOCs and E. coli.• E. coli sample incubation processing and recording.• Macroinvertebrate surber sampling, multi – habitat macroinvertebrate sampling with kick net and macroinvertebrate woody debris sampling.• Periphyton and chlorophyll-α sample collection.• Stream velocity measurement using Marsh McBirney Flo-Mate 2000 in order to determine total stream discharge.• Stream channel morphology surveying and classification utilizing Dave Rosgen methodology.• Stream bank stability and cover surveying and determination.• Stream cross section and longitudinal profile surveying using laser level and flood-prone area width determination.• Stream bed feature delineation (pool, non-pool) and pool quality determination.• Riparian vegetation structure, human influence and instream fish cover surveying.• Data quality assurance and quality control.• Map construction using ESRI’s ArcGIS for field sites.
