In my position as an Environmental Scientist for the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board (“Regional Water Board”), I work with diverse stakeholders and specialize in environmental law and regulation compliance. My primary job duties include developing and executing various strategies for compliance assistance, including bringing formal enforcement cases to hearing before the Board. I always strive to provide exceptional customer service to entities the Regional Water Board regulates, and I work cooperatively with permittees to achieve compliance whenever possible. I perform water quality regulation enforcement for the Industrial and the Construction Storm Water General Permits, the 401 permitting program, and other California and Federal water code violations. I am the Spill Response Coordinator for the Regional Water Board and regularly attend USCG Sector San Francisco Area Contingency Plan Meetings and actively participate in various spill drills and exercises. Spill response coordination has allowed me work with various individuals and agencies sharing a common interest in Bay ecology and the mitigation of environmental harm. I excel at and enjoy finding solutions to resolve problems and managing communications between government agencies, non-governmental organizations, businesses and property owners. I have been working in the field of environmental science since 2007. During this time I have performed environmental research in varied ecosystems and geographic locations, from avian studies to real time water quality monitoring programs to stream bioassessment. I am a coauthor of a report finalized in 2012 that analyzes data collected by the Surface Water Ambient Monitoring Program in two related stream monitoring projects in the San Francisco Bay region.Specialties: Industrial and Construction Stormwater General Permits,Qualified Storm Water Prevention Plan Developer (QSD) 40 hour training

• Coordinating and performing bioassessment and water chemistry monitoring in the San Francisco Bay region• Reporting of SWAMP wadeable stream reference sites and urban gradient sites assessment data from 2008-2010 • Data analysis using conventional metrics, regional benthic indices of biotic integrity (B-IBIs), and non-metric multidimensional scaling (NMS) ordination; benthic stream algae data analysis tools development• Wadeable stream bioassessment using SWAMP SOPs, which include physical habitat assessment, benthic macro-invertebrate, algae and water chemistry sampling• Study design development and SWAMP bioassessment Algae Sampling Tools Fabrication Guide creation. • Deployment and maintenance of YSI 6600 & 6920-V2 data sondes and Onset HOBO Water Temp Pro v2 data loggers located at stream monitoring reference sites for time series monitoring of water temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH and conductivity• Suisun Bay nutrient, chlorophyll- α and phytoplankton sampling; regional reservoir fish and San Francisco Bay mussel sampling for tissue toxicity testing, candidate monitoring site reconnaissance and educational outreach• Scientific collection permit, memorandum of understanding and property access permissions management• Public outreach, including presenting bioassessment workshops at the National Science Teachers Association’s National Conference and leading elementary school bioassessment educational outings

• Assist with monitoring in joint effort with various agencies to study wetland response to modified hydrology with respect to salinity management (agencies include UC Davis, Dept. of Water Resources, US Bureau of Reclamation, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, UC Merced and CSU Fresno).• Presentation-quality graph creation from water quality spreadsheet, sonde calibration protocol design, sonde calibration, calibration data entry and spreadsheet modification.• Downloading water chemistry and flow data from YSI EcoNet website and updating spreadsheet.• Soil core sampling and desiccation to determine moisture content and actual salinity (salinity testing performed at UCM), also wetted soil core sampling for Crypsis schoenoides seed quantification (wetted soil core sampling performed with California Department of Water Resources scientists).• Daily surveys of waterbirds on moist soil managed wetland units including individual count and identification in order to monitor avian usage of wetlands (February through April).• Identification of alliance and association species and delineation of vegetation communities in moist soil wetland units managed for swamp timothy (Crypsis schoenoides).• Application of high resolution remote sensing to vegetation mapping.• Vegetation community identification and delineation on CIR images.• Crypsis schoenoides clip sampling in order to quantify seed production. • ArcGIS file creation, manipulation and editing.• Wetland soil salinity mapping.• Geonics EM38-MK2 soil conductivity probe calibration.• Swainson’s, Red-tailed and Red-shouldered hawk nest monitoring and California red-legged frog surveys.• Passerine mist-netting, avian influenza monitoring, waterfowl pair and brood counts, and nocturnal and diurnal raptor and deer surveys.• Assisting UCM students performing ground based hyper spectral imager vegetation mapping (to be use in conjunction with remote sensing).

• Wadeable stream bioassessment and reservoir monitoring to determine water quality standards attainment as required by the Clean Water Act.• Reservoir monitoring utilizing Van Dorn sampler to take vertical point water samples in order to test for temperature, pH, specific conductivity, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, total phosphorous, NO3+NO2-N, ammonia-N and chlorophyll-α and Hydrolab multi-parameter data sonde in order to establish riverine, transitional and lacustrine vertical water chemistry profiles at littoral and pelagic sites.• Uploading reservoir survey data and creating spreadsheet, presentation quality charts and graphs.• Water sample collection to test for temperature, pH, specific conductivity, dissolved oxygen, total suspended solids, hardness, turbidity, alkalinity, chloride, sulfate, total phosphorous, NO3+NO2-N, total nitrogen, total kjeldahl nitrogen, heavy metals, VOCs and E. coli.• E. coli sample incubation processing and recording.• Macroinvertebrate surber sampling, multi – habitat macroinvertebrate sampling with kick net and macroinvertebrate woody debris sampling.• Periphyton and chlorophyll-α sample collection.• Stream velocity measurement using Marsh McBirney Flo-Mate 2000 in order to determine total stream discharge.• Stream channel morphology surveying and classification utilizing Dave Rosgen methodology.• Stream bank stability and cover surveying and determination.• Stream cross section and longitudinal profile surveying using laser level and flood-prone area width determination.• Stream bed feature delineation (pool, non-pool) and pool quality determination.• Riparian vegetation structure, human influence and instream fish cover surveying.• Data quality assurance and quality control.• Map construction using ESRI’s ArcGIS for field sites.
