Dave Pearson is an American Hospital Association Regional Executive and AHA’s representative to the member hospitals and state/metro hospital associations in AR, LA, OK & TX. Any opinions or thoughts expressed here are solely my own.Before that, David was the President and CEO of TORCH, the Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals, for 11 years. TORCH is an association whose members consist of general acute care hospitals of less than 150 beds as well as the companies and organizations which provide products and services to rural hospitals. David was also directly responsible for TORCH's subsidiary organizations and the management of several other healthcare provider associations. Before becoming CEO, David served as the Vice President of Advocacy and Communications for TORCH for five years. Prior to coming to TORCH, David was the Director of Operations for the State Office of Rural Health in Texas and also coordinated all the agency’s rural hospital programs. Before that, he held professional positions at several agencies and hospitals in Texas and Kansas, including the Executive Director of a 12-member rural hospital cooperative (Med-Op, Inc.) in the state’s Northwestern quadrant. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration and a Master of Public Administration Degree both from Texas State University. David is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and has been Board Certified in Healthcare Management by ACHE since 2003. David has been active in the leadership of several healthcare organizations, including President-Elect of the National Rural Health Association.David is also a proud husband and father of two boys.
