I am the founder of Helix Opportunity, a disability-related business & organizational development consulting firm that was funded by the California Department of Rehabilitation. My life's work focuses on eliminating the unintentional stigmatization of individuals by their differences, while providing meaningful experiences that everyone can share in together, both in the workplace and consumer marketplace. I have created a revolutionary design methodology that seamlessly integrates the scientific fields of neuroplasticity and social psychology with the engineering fields of Lean Transformation, Six Sigma, Accessibility and Universal Design. I've also developed a human relations program that incorporates mindfulness, emotional intelligence, social psychology, and neuroplasticity to facilitate enduring relationships amongst individuals with the broadest range of differences. I am a believer in strengths-based thinking as opposed to problem-solving, deficit-based mindsets. I do not consider myself a millennial but a proud member of the Nintendo Generation, an old school 90’s punk rocker, and a diversity & inclusion disruptor. I survived a traumatic brain injury, from a hemorrhagic stroke at the age of 13, that left me completely paralyzed on the entire left side of my body, blind in the left half of each eye, and cognitively impaired. I've also survived, and learned how to manage, the disease of addiction. I pride myself on being an organic thinker, always finding new ways to connect all of my life’s seemingly different, and unrelated, experiences. I'm also an avid writer. It is my greatest passion, and my 1st love. Unique random fact about me: My oldest, most prized, possession is a 30+ year old stuffed Panda from the San Francisco Zoo. I've had an affinity for Panda's since the age of 3 and own over 2 dozen collectibles in the form of stuffed animals, mugs, shirts, slippers, and various other trinkets. All gifts from friends & family.
