Maintained relationships with participating dealers' Finance and Insurance departments as well as dealer principles to make sure WFS received applications on qualified buyers. Evaluated customer credit from information on credit applications, credit reports and personal interviews for extension of credit. Worked with dealer Finance and Insurance departments to assist in shaping the amount financed, model of vehicle, interest rate, buy rate, any points dealer could add to the buy rate if the deal was within certain parameters and any other add-ons such as GAP Insurance or extended warranty plans. Worked with loan reps once the contracts were received from dealer by checking contract for any issues or differences from what was approved and either sent back to dealer for remedy or issued a check to dealer for the contract.Worked with delinquent customers to resolve problems with their account. Handled any legal paperwork necessary to dispose of repossessed vehicles, process sale of collateral and attempt to collect any deficiency.Performed dealership collateral audits on dealers that GMAC extended funds to finance new and used vehicles inventory. These audits were un-announced audits where I was expected to account for each vehicle that was in their inventory (floor plan) by physically inspecting the vehicle, or viewing any file information that would indicate the date of sale and assess whether or not the dealer had issued a check to pay off vehicle within the contracted time period. If the vehicle was out on a test drive or at a third party installer, the vehicle was placed on a supplemental audit form and followed within a few days. If the file indicated a sale, and the dealer had not yet issued a payment, I collected payment as necessary.Main function was to recognize, correct, minimize GMAC's exposure to loss.GMAC consolidated their operations into less but larger branches. The closest was in Dallas but I was not willing to relocate at that time.
