I work as a researcher at the Faculty of Agronomy and Life Sciences on the PrAEctiCe project, developing a novel agroecology indicator set for East African smallholder farmers transitioning to integrated agriculture aquaculture (IAA). We aim to support smallholder farmers in their agroecological transition through a decision support tool that selects the best-suited agroecological practices. We focus on circular water-energy-nutrient systems of integrated aqua-agriculture and gather new insights into agroecological practices in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda). Our project aims to develop an indicator framework for agroecological practices, validate it in three living labs, and cooperate with stakeholders and farmers. Another aim is to provide policy recommendations for AU and EU policies.
