David earned a B.A. in Environmental Education, Administrative Services Credential and M.A. in Educational Leadership from Sonoma State University. He completed his teaching credential and M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Dominican University and completed his doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of California. His original research and dissertation explored Social Capital, Social Replication Theory, and Critical Race Theory through public education and the impacts on the individual students. His mix method original research used student voice to authentically explore and illustrate the intersection of Social Capital, Social Replication Theory and Public Education.With a leadership background spanning the K-12 Public School System, David emphasizes learning at all levels of the organization and self-discovery to reach our potential. His experience includes teaching, administration, curriculum development, mentoring, state and federal programs, alternative education, Special Education, PBIS, MTSS, and Human Resources. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, David was deployed with the Santa Clara County Emergency Operations Center and Santa Clara County Public Health responding to COVID-19 and supporting all Charter, Private, and Public Schools to reopen. Within these experience, David has been a site administrator at all levels of the K-12 continuum and currently is a district administrator. An avid triathlete, David Putney enjoys swimming, biking, running, and yoga as a way to increase the quality and balance of life. David is a proud father of two wonderful young women.
