Zecter is a Y Combinator-backed developer of cloud storage and streaming applications ZumoDrive and ZumoCast. As lead mobile developer I was responsible for shipping Android, iPhone, and webOS versions of the applications. This included application development, design, support.

Alberta Energy produces Oil royalty calculation software, responsible for calculating oil royalty for the province of Alberta. I consulted with Alberta Energy in an effort to improve their Quality Assurance processes. During this time, my responsibilities included:- Contributing to and executing the system plan;- Preparing a technical test template;- Preparing software specifications- Drafting quality assurance guidelines and maintaining quality assurance onall deliverables

Verdiem provides enterprise software to reduce energy consumption of PC networks.I consulted for the company to help them improve their Quality Assurance and configuration management process during a period of growth for the company.

Saflink Corporation develops large scale, 3 tier biometric security solutions for US federal programs and large corporations. While with Saflink I progressed from black box testing, to software developer in test, and eventually to a QA lead role. Through these roles, I gained a broad understanding of software development and deployment issues from a management, testing, and development perspective. As QA lead, I held de facto bottom-line responsibility for deciding if software was ready to ship.During my time with Saflink, my responsibilities included: - Test automation, harness, and tool development using SQL Server, C#, and ASP.Net. 1.18 Use of automation tools including C#, Numega products, N-Unit, N-Cover. - Security and requirement analysis, and testing.- Test lead responsibilities including generating test schedule, test plan, test cases, test schedule, use case and tractability matrix. Responsible for recruiting test team including interviewing and performance reviews.- White box, UI, smoke, acceptance, bvt, regression, performance, scalability, security, unit, and regression testing.- Bug filing, triaging, regressing. - Conducted user interviews and case studies, generated use cases. - Driven agile software development practices including SCRUM.

Imperial Oil/Southwest Agri is an Oil and Gas retail company. While completing my Computer Science degree, I was contracted to develop an online fuel ordering system to automate what was previously a manual pen and paper system managed between 5 geographical locations. The system met the customer’s requirements and was delivered on time and on budget. Upon deployment I was contracted again for maintenance, support, and training responsibilities.During my time contracting I was responsible for the following:- Customer requirement gathering and system design using OO UML. - Database Design and Development using mySQL. - Object oriented business logic layer development using Java. - User interface development using server side PHP and client side JavaScript. - Maintenance programming, customer support, bug fixing and training activities. - Maintained and managed technical relationship with company stakeholders and customer.

Tantia Technologies is a leader in large enterprise data storage software systems. I was a SoftwareTester intern within the QA organization in the summer of 2000. This internship gave me my first taste of QA process within an enterprise environment.- Test plan development and execution based on functional /non requirement, design and use case review.- UI, smoke, acceptance, regression, performance, load, scalability testing. Bug tracking and triaging. Reproducing bugs for developers.- Representing QA in bug triage meetings.- Complex Network setup and troubleshooting including Active Directory, UNIX, and netware topologies.

Canada Life is a large Life Insurance Provider whose main office was in Regina in 1999. For 8 months of this time period, I worked as an intern as a Visual Basic programmer. I worked on components development for the Life Assurance Illustrator for customers across Canada. This internship gave me a taste of developing professional quality software. While at Canada Life, responsibilities included:- Object oriented C++ insurance calculation module development. - Tool development using Visual basic and Crystal reports. - UI testing and unit testing of insurance calculation dll’s.
