I lecture predominantly with our Year 3 and Year 4 undergraduate students. In Year 3, the students plough through various Media Projects, do research and concept development, develop their digital skills and do ambitious group and industry projects. In Year 4, the students work through a Major Practical Project (often a full short film) and a thesis.In IADT, I'm also heavily involved in Teaching and Learning. I've been a member of the IADT Academic Council and IADT's Teaching and Learning Committee since 2010. From Jan 2014, I became one of IADT's representatives on the TEMPUS ALIGN project, helping National Quality Assurance Agencies and Higher Education Institutions from Armenia, Ukraina and Russia to "achieve and check the alignment between academic programmes and qualification frameworks” - an exciting 3 year project. I also work on international revalidation and programmatic review panels for agencies such as SKVC in Lithuania and AZVO in Croatia.

I joined my father's animation company Quin Films Limited in1984. We produced stopmotion animation for tv (for the Irish State broadcaster RTE). We produced hundreds of inserts for RTE's Bosco programme (including Tongue Twisters, Faherty's Garden, Aesop's Fables and Gregory Grainneog), as well as Muintir na Mona inserts for Dilin O Deamhas and full series such as Bailebeag, Long Long Ago, Floradora, Neddy and The Daisy Shoe.I became managing Director of the company in 1990. We continued to produce tv material (including Dunin, Circus and Machines inserts for RTE's Morbegs programme), until 1998, when I switched over to 'permanent CGI freelancing' at Brown Bag Films. I closed the Quin Films company in 2007. It was, at that time, the oldest animation company in Ireland.

I brought CGI into Brown Bag Films, established their first CGI commercials team and became their first CGI Technical Director, working on commercials, corporate work, short films and tv projects. The highlight of my Brown Bag career was being a tiny part of the small team who made 'Give Up Yer Auld Sins' in 2001/2002, a short film which was nominated for an Oscar! I worked with great people, many of whom are still there and I was reluctant to leave! But by 2006, it was time to move on. I still have a great loyalty to the company and to my friends in the original team. Brown Bag have grown huge since I left - I was certainly holding them back!
