Technical lead on Cloud Compliance engineering from architecture to documentation and processes. Introduced latest Cloud Native features (Serverless, ML) via PoC's. I worked on Corporate Strategy, Key Customer Engagements, Standards, and Government Affairs. Cloudscaling provided Openstack Clouds for various service providers, companies. Sold to EMC.

I contributed strategy, architecture, and technology work to the National Institute of Standards and Technology Cloud Computing project. This effort operates in the Information Technology Laboratory of NIST, and is sanctioned under the Federal CIO office to direct Cloud Computing technology and strategy directions for all agencies of the US Government. Although NIST is part of the Dept. of Commerce my contracting dispensation is through the Naval SPAWAR (Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command) advanced research budget. I worked extensively on the IEEE Intercloud effort during this time as well.

Reporting to the Corporate CTO to lead efforts in Cloud Computing. I ran Cisco’s Cloud Lab and led Cisco’s Cloud Strategy, Interoperability, and Standards initiatives. Worked on VCE. Worked with several service providers and standards organizations where I founded the Intercloud Project

Oracle Middleware has inherited all of the Siebel plumbing areas. I was a VP running the PM/Strategy side of Siebel CRM "core". I assisted in the transition of Siebel to Oracle but took my package at the end despite Oracle's offer to stay. I'd have loved to stay at Oracle but not more than taking the package, put it that way.

Was responsible for the Tech Strategy and Product side of “Project Nexus” - the stack re-write we called Siebel Component Assembly. Managed two releases of SCA to customers. This new framework and CRM system ran native on .NET, J2EE, and z/OS, and embodied the latest Application Server, SOA, and Business Composition technologies. Responsible for technology design and go to market strategy including relationships with Microsoft, IBM, and BEA. Siebel sold to Oracle.

Led architecture and development of the entire CRM / Call Center product line on J2EE and XML, a pioneering effort at the time. Went IPO, then sold to PegaSystems.

Tycho networks was a mid-size ISP covering all of Northern California. Sold the company to DSL.net which was acquired by Megapath which was acquired by Fusion Connect.

Pluris was a manufacturer of Terabit Network Routers. Raised $24 million in a second round. Grew the company from 10 to 145 people. Led design of optical backplane and 10G ASIC design. Systems were completed and underwent successful trials in WorldCom, Global Crossing, and Qwest.

Project to develop the next generation WorldNet platform for AT&T to spin off as an independent entity. Hired 165 people, designed and built the platform out of Sun server clusters, Java technology, with distributed storage, top-of-rack and aggregation switching, and dynamic process invocation. Was amongst the first “Cloud Computing” project anywhere.

Intertrust was the pioneer of Digital Rights Management (DRM), the security software and hardware to protect copyrights and commerce of digital goods over the internet. Built the first prototype system, wrote the first papers. Company sold to Philips/Sony.

Business Process Automation for Banyan Vines, Novell Appware, and Lotus Notes. Company sold to Delrina (the WinFAX people) who then sold to Symantec

Part of the original startup team of 10 who implemented XENIX (UNIX) on the PC, before Linux. Architect of real-time, multi-processor, and micro-kernel projects. Worked with AT&T, UCB, Microsoft, HP, SUN, Intel, and IBM on early UNIX versions and standards. Went IPO with 1,200 people.
