Implemented a complete development management system for feasibility processes and incorporated a PMO project controls system for control of the development life cycle for: feasibility, master planning, design, procurement, construction, and adherence to compliance requirements. The introduced joint ventures for both development and consultancy requirements, generated design (with value engineering) to design closeout within budget. The applications of this system extended to the procurement of contractors and an earlier commencement on site, freed the supply chain for materials required on site and specialist services required for enabling works. GALFAR Engineering and Contracting is better known for their extensive civil engineering abilities in Oman. Working under instruction of the GALFAR Board, I created the Airport Division within the Company. The aim of this division was to tender and gain Oman CAA airport projects under Design and Build expertise. Working as the Clients’ Project Manager and applying the Project Management Plans from project initiation to project completion. This involved determining all stakeholders and understanding the scope of work which allowed the finalising of budgets for time and cost. Tight control over the designers produced an elegant design but just as importantly, within budget. The confirmation of the budget was determined in a successful tender for the main contractor and work specialists. The budgets for time and cost remained in control, during construction, via a robust and expressly defined delivery management system, specifically over the contractor’s schedule but remaining open to all value engineering opportunities within program alignment. Work operations required considerable collaboration support with the main contractor but with applied risk mitigation, the contracts were finalised for each vendor while ensuring end user and authority set requirements, which were planned ahead of time, were executed on time.Projects: Fairmont Hotel and Residences – Palm Jumeirah, Dubai (AED 750M) wherein performed the following duties:MACE - Seconded Project Director (Client), Omniyat, Dubai, UAE: Successful in completing feasibility, design, PMO integration and local authority approvals for The Pad and The Opus projects.

ProjectsLa Croix du Sud Hotel, Pointe de Ensy was a complete demolition of the entire existing hotel and rebuild and fit out of over 450 high specification rooms. Redevelopment included new Public areas, Guest rooms, operator accommodation and newly constructed beach front. Cyber Village Hotel rooms were completed with ‘leading hotel of the world’ décor. The project included all urban planning requirements and local infrastructure. The design and build approach to include for flexible residential requirements while maintaining the high standards of the hotel operator.

Project:JNB Airport - Responsible to deliver the civil and structural envelope of the new terminal and associated aircraft interface requirements The new terminal consisted of 72 000 m³ concrete in a multi level building, 18 000 m² roof sheeting, 5 500 tons of structural steel, 19 000 m² curtain wall façade, air-side connections into the existing airport and two land-side elevated roads. Project:New head Office, Nedcor Banking Ltd, Sandton - ZAR 550MI was appointed the Construction Project Manager covering all the civil and structural works for an independent seven block office project for a leading bank in the country. The delivery requirements were: 135,000 m² total office area, 110,000 m², four level basement, 100,000 m², limestone and curtain wall facades, 33,800 km of IT cable, 4 x 11 KVA internal power plant energy room. High specification finishes and full intelligent building management systems.Management of the structural construction of the seven tower blocks involved:A project execution plan which includes a resource management, schedule and cost, procurement and risk management plans. Along with QA and a HSE plan, coordination had to be the front runner via clear and concise communication.Under a challenging time period, the project was completed on time and under budget.

Projects:The Michelangelo Hotel - ZAR 500MThe overall project was constructed over an existing and operating retail centre. The additional works are (M+9) This leading Hotel of the World comprised of 342 rooms, 22 suites and two presidential suites finish in oak cladding and fine décor. A high-tech Gym with an indoor swimming pool area, saunas are situated on the mezzanine level and conference centres, several F&B outlets and a Breakfast balcony all overlooking Sandton square are position on both ground and first floors.A total floor area of 35,000m², façade completed in aged paint effects and a nine level void internal cathedral styled atrium complete the hotels experience. Project completed on time and within budget.Colonnade Retail Centre, Pretoria ZAR - 315m35 000m² new retail areas constructed over existing and operating retail centre, 180 000m² external parking area and ring roads. Project completed on time and within budget.Transportation Government Office, Nelspruit - ZAR 230mA circular design (radius of 180m) of five - four level buildings within the same radius, 20 000m² basement in two levels, 14 000m² composite stone façade, 200 new tenant requirements. The most challenging part of the project was the river relocation. Project completed on time and within budget.My execution of work program was based on completing one project have a second project at least at more than thirty percent completed. The project execution plan was major instrument for each project and at which stage of completion the project was in but the movement of resources between the different projects was the actual key to the successful completion and major cost savings.
