About David Reilly
In 2007 I was working at Gartner in a business advisory role. It was to be my dream job (or so I thought). Gartner brought in a specialist consultant one day to talk to my team about contracts, specifically about the importance of each clause in a contract and how even a simple change to a word, that might seem unimportant to some, could have a massive impact on the client’s finances, operations and liabilities. That was the day my life changed.I turned to my colleague and said, “that’s what I am going to do for a living”. At the time, he laughed at me. “No one does that for a living”, he said. Within two months I had enrolled in a law degree at Strathclyde University and had started my journey towards launching my business, Create Ts & Cs.In 2009, I launched with one purpose: to make legal services more accessible for small businesses. In the last decade, I’ve worked with over 400 companies across the UK and written over a thousand contracts including terms and conditions, partnership agreements, freelance contracts, online web and App contracts and policies, privacy and cookie policies. Every need is different, so every contract is different. It’s like a game of chess, each clause in the contract is a move you make, on a chess board, in anticipation of remedying or avoiding a dispute. My job is simply to help you plan for every scenario.Because contracts form part of business compliance, it made sense to broaden the service into other areas of risk. In 2017 in anticipation of GDPR law changing the following year, I brought data protection compliance into my business services. TalkRiskGroup.com was formed to assist people with issues such as subject access requests, data breaches, marketing consent and compliance certification.From the initial moment of inspiration in 2007 to today, I’ve come a long way, gained a mountain of experience and helped a lot of companies avoid dispute, making their lives a bit easier; which was always the goal.
