At Ultraflote, we design, fabricate, and install aluminum geodesic domes, internal floating roofs, flat panel covers, and cryogenic insulation support decks. Aluminum geodesic domes are an excellent choice for a long lasting weather cover for any round structure, including petroleum tanks, water and wastewater treatment tanks, and storage tanks. Internal floating roofs can reduce petroleum tank emissions to near zero by following the liquid surface up and down as the tank is used. Flat panel covers can be used to cover almost any area. And cryogenic insulation support decks can be a very cost effective solution to an interior insulation support structure in LPG tanks.

At Red Dot Buildings, I reviewed new projects and made notes for the design engineer, then reviewed the designs.

At Primetex I managed several commercial construction projects from large commercial store renovations to complete new buildings, including underground work, foundations, building shell, and building interiors. I also did structural design work as needed from single components to entire buildings.

Design, engineering, field supervision, and field inspection of aluminum and stainless steel internal floating roofs and aluminum geodesic domes. Also programming of design, analysis, and computer aided drafting programs.

At NOV, I managed the production and delivery of subsea BOPs (blow out preventers). I had as many as 13 projects running at the same time. I had weekly progress meetings with customers, coordinated required testing, chased down errant parts, and reviewed customer needs with the engineers. I especially enjoyed visiting the new R&D testing facility I helped design to watch product testing in the new test bays!

Design and analyze new high-impact-resistant test bays, including full-height doors faced with 1" steel plate and rollaway roof hatches with 1-1/2" steel plate.

Managed several heavy highway construction projects, including the Westpark Tollway, the Fort Bend Tollway, Ellington Airfield, I-10, I-45, Nasa Rd 1, and State Highway 3.• Took construction projects from successful bid to final acceptance, and started several others that I passed on to others.• Often assisted other engineers with project scheduling, structural analysis, traffic control plans, and occasional computer software and networking concerns.• Proposed integrating all project scheduling companywide to facilitate scheduling of special crews and equipment.• Successfully submitted claims for extended overhead expenses for delays caused by others.

At A&S I designed metal buildings for many parts of the country, concentrating in the the East-Southeast US. • I designed all sizes of metal buildings from small one-bay buildings to large multi-bay buildings.• I designed approximately one new metal building per working day.• I evaluated an alternate software program for possible use instead of the in-house proprietary software.• I designed new standard connections using the latest standards for inclusion in the standard in-house software.• I designed buildings using standard components or as many custom pieces as required for the design.

At Ultraflote I designed aluminum geodesic domes for petroleum tanks and water/wastewater plants.• I designed and analyzed geodesic domes from 22 ft to 180 ft in diameter.• I designed special structures such as walkways, platforms, jib cranes, and rolling ladders and stairways.• I moved the entire company from old mainframe computers and terminals to new networked desktop computers, increasing processing speed 125 times.• I programmed and debugged parts of the in-house proprietary computer program.• I took the idea for a new measurement method and expanded it into a full measurement system, complete with checkoff sheets and dimensionable drawings. This measurement process is still being used by Ultraflote today..• I programmed many custom drawing aids that assisted the engineers and designers in laying out new designs for domes and internal floating roofs.
