After searching for years for a company to purchase Richardson discovered the small Louisville company in the summer of 2013 and became the largest shareholder and CEO via a founder buyout. As the CEO and largest shareholder Richardson rapidly grew the company adding dozens of partner colleges and universities leading to a company sale to private equity firm Weld North in late 2013. Richardson continued to be CEO under Weld North control until late 2013 and remained a board member and investor until the company was sold to publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc. in late 2018. Richardson founded Capture Higher Ed while CEO of TLH.
