As a Distinguished Service Professor at the Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University, I teach courses surrounding information technology and science that include measuring and assessing impacts of emergent and disruptive technologies, managing digital business structures and models, and leading capstone course projects solving real-world industrial issues through design and application of information systems. Courses taught include Managing Digital Business, Digital Transformation, and Information Systems Projects. I am also an advisor and curriculum developer for the Business Intelligence and Data Analytics (BIDA) programs at the Heinz College, as well as play an important advisory role to incoming and continuing education students in the BIDA programs.

As a full time faculty instructor for The Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) eBusiness Technology program, I utilize a unique teaching methodology in which students work in teams on 16 intensive eBusiness projects defined by the faculty. Following the 16 projects, the students work on Practicum projects furnished by industrial sponsors. The program does not offer any traditional courses, but allows the students to take CMU graduate courses as electives. As an eBusiness instructor, I work with students throughout the program and the Practicum. I guide and advise the student teams, evaluate the work of individual team members for grading purposes, and anticipate and deal with difficulties that the students experience in working on their projects. I also work with other faculty members who have overall supervision of the individual projects.

I have been an active academic employee of the Heinz College starting in May of 2011. During this tenure I have held the following responsibilities:As an Adjunct Professor for the “Digital Transformation” class I am responsible for the delivery of quality instruction based on the curriculum of a capstone course integrating technological and managerial aspects of information technology. My role as an adjunct is to manage the class, work with a Teaching Assistant and assign work (including grading, student hours, etc.), analyze homework assignments, both from the students and the review/grading done by the TA. I lead the lectures in the class, work with students, answer questions, research new content, and finalize grades for the course.As a Teaching Assistant for the following courses: Negotiation, Advanced Negotiation, and Geographic Information Systems. I am responsible for materials gathering of the courses, tutoring, hosting and grading exams, assignment grading, and general assistance to the professor of the course. In some cases, I am responsible for leading lectures and creating material for the class.

Team Lead for a group of Information Technology Consultants at Carnegie Mellon University. Responsibilities include operational management of the department and staff, work as an escalation point for higher level issues, and facilitate professional development/training programs. Also works on a multitude of advisory committees to represent the department and university to enhance and improve Information Technology needs at the university.

Systems Administrator for NetServe365 (Formerly Innovations in Technology). I supported a fully scalable range of technology services for companies of all sizes – from a small office of five to an enterprise-level corporations with thousands of employees. Technologies included windows based server systems, firewall/routers, and other infrastructure.

Oversee and support a multi domain network via WAN between Pittsburgh and Carpinteria, CA. Design and construction of an Active Directory network from NT 4.0, with migration of Database and ERP software to the Pittsburgh location.

Coordinate data communications for domestic operations of a multi-million dollar corporation. Design and construct a wide-area network connecting satellite offices to corporate headquarters. Oversee setup of servers and desktop workstations. Configured routers, firewalls, domain name services, e-mail, Web, and ftp services.

IT support of the corporate office for 380 retail chains, such as 9.99 Stock Room, Rue 21, Capers and Papermart. Duties included troubleshooting DC4 and CRS registers running Windows NT 4. Editing and running daily financial and sales reports. Supported the corporate AS/400 system for report generation and daily operations. Support of the corporate network’s workstations and servers.
