• Lead the group commercial team ($1BN sales) with 5 direct reports and their related teams including corn originations (procurement), marketing of products produced (ethanol, corn oil, dried distillers grains), commodity trading and risk management (including the above commodities plus natural gas and denaturant).• Lead a project to enter the higher alcohols market including industrial alcohol (commonly used in sanitizers) and grain neutral spirits (drinkable alcohol). This included identification of customers from introduction through to contracting, working with a team on the technology to produce the product and on modeling / presenting to senior management for approval of the capital.• Implemented “Traction” methodology in leading my team.

• Lead the group finance function to ensure educated decision making, accurate financial reporting and consistent application of company policy and practice.• Direct the preparation of the long term (5 year) plan, annual business plan, monthly forecasts and contribute to strategic planning process.• Prepare and evaluate financial analysis / justification of new business opportunities and capital projects• Co-lead of a $175M brownfield ethanol plant build/acquisition and integration in the Ethanol group.• Reviewed large, strategic contracts for Company impacts and negotiated identified opportunities leading to a “Pat On The Back” award.

• Responsible for the SEC external reporting group including preparation of public filings such as 10K/10Q.• Research and resolve technical accounting issues by working with the business group controllers and external auditors.• Lead a team of 5 managers covering shared Corporate functions such as governance risk and compliance (GRC), AP/AR and fixed assets as well as internal and external reporting.• Focused on process improvement in all areas which resulted in a “Pat On The Back” award for improvements to the quality and speed of the financial close process from the CEO reducing the time to close by more than 50%.• Identified the need for and implemented Blackline as the Company’s account reconciliation tool improving quality, speed and reducing the amount of effort required.• Admitted to and successfully completed the Company’s Leadership Institute development program including a lean six sigma yellow belt.• Formed and lead an accounting policy committee that is working to update and improve the Company’s accounting policies and to develop the Company’s plan for new standards such as revenue and leases.• Focused on attracting and developing talent including implementation of a twice a year technical accounting training program to develop accounting expertise internally and clearing the path for a new intern program / talent development program by managers on my team.• Significant member of the teams working on a variety of company-wide initiatives such as selection of a new external auditor, building a new corporate headquarters, SAP implementation, business acquisitions and a legal entity restructuring project.• Business partner to the Grain and Ethanol groups.
