After joining a local Gem and Mineral Society in 2008, I quickly rejected the traditional draw towards fabricating cabochons. For me, the style was way too simple and lacking for my interests. I needed the freedom of creating sensual lines, along with negative and positive spaces that make up my creations. The art of carving was my only solution. Over time I was drawn to gemstones and minerals like Nephrite Jade, Jadeite, Quartz, Amethyst, Blue Chalcedony, Citrine, Ametrine, Sunstone, Rose Quartz, Agate, Jasper, Chrysoprase, Gem Silica, and Rhodonite to name a few…all wonderful material to work with, each having their strengths, some with specific challenges). While I am mostly self-taught, I have studied with several master carvers Ron Martinez (master gemstone carver), Matt Glasby (master Jade carver), and Lawrence Stoller (megagem carving pioneer). Experiencing their thought processes, tools and techniques accelerated the expansion of my carving skills. “Each carving teaches me something, pushing me beyond what I knew before.” The whole process of creation is one of exploration into the moment of no time or space, just the relationship with the stone guiding my next choices.I offer high quality jade and mineral carvings for personal wear. My inspiration comes from the beauty and variety found within nature, indigenous cultures around the world, fellow artists creating on the edge of possibility, and inter-dimensional input. Each gemstone or mineral is selected for its beauty, uniqueness, and potential. Each carving becomes a one of a kind, miniature sculpture. My carvings are infused with Love and the highest intentions for the wearer. When collaborating with a client on a custom piece, I infuse prayers, energy, and intentions that serve the highest good of this individual and his or her mission in life.Providing carving instruction to individuals and groups allows me to assist others in appreciating the stones and tapping into their creative potential
