CurrentI specialise in patent matters relating to computer software, computer hardware and business methods. My practice includes managing patent portfolios of leading multinational software companies, as well as working for universities and SMEs.I have extensive experience of drafting and prosecuting patent applications throughout the world, and have also advised clients on infringement and validity matters. I also have considerable expertise in advising in connection with the inherent patentability of computer implemented inventions in different jurisdictions around the world.I have particular experience of patent matters relating to various aspects of computer science including data storage systems, computer implemented mathematical methods, image analysis including methods for analysing circuit boards and medical image processing, data analysis, communications protocols, computer graphics, machine learning and artificial intelligence.I graduated from The University of Manchester with a degree in Computer Science and Maths. I went on to obtain a Masters degree in Mathematical Logic and the Theory of Computation. I then completed a Ph.D in automated reasoning before joining Marks & Clerk.
