I came on board TG Graphics in November 2016 to address issues with the company's financial reporting and accounting. I was tasked with cleaning up the accounting records and revising the financial reporting. I worked with management to address their financial reporting needs and cleaned up all areas of the company's accounting:-Reconciled AR/AP-Brought monthly bank reconciliations up to date-Redesigned financial reporting structure to meet the needs of both management and external FS users. This involved redesigning the chart of accounts and the structure of the income statement and balance sheet, eliminating redundancies and unused accounts, and adding accounts that are relevant for management's decision making.-Reestablished positive relationship with domestic and international suppliers-Performed break-even analysis to aid management in monthly budget analysis-Established procedures to better track down payments on POs-Worked with external auditor to correct lingering errors on the balance sheet from prior years of poor accounting-Implicated in major government sales tax audit to justify assessment and work to lower the assessment. This was an extremely valuable experience, teaching me how to properly analyze accounting records and reconciling them to monthly sales tax declarations and remissions. My work lead to a 70% decrease on the initial assessment of several hundreds of thousands of dollars and I can now confidently say I am competent in performing tax recovery and audit procedures My day to day tasks include:-Maintaining AP-Supervising AR-Monthly sales tax remissions and reporting-Weekly cash flow analysis-FX hedging-Monthly reporting for both parent company and subsidiary-Maintaining intercompany AR/AP-Reviewing employee expense claims-Working with external accounting firm on annual review for both companies-Identifying cost saving opportunities-Identifying and addressing control weaknesses

Worked on contract for the 2016 tax season preparing personal tax returns.This experience expanded my personal tax knowledge by exposing me to new issues. I gained exposure to US tax slips and how to incorporate them into a Canadian return. I also gained exposure to investment accounting and had the opportunity to put to use my experience in communicating with tax authorities and taking care of administrative issues between them and clients such as tracking down unpaid tax credits, clearing errors, and dealing with provincial tax issues within Quebec and Ontario.
