During my second summer internship with ConeTec, I was responsible for operating software and managing instrumentation on a geotechnical drilling and testing rig on numerous sites across BC and Northern Alberta. While working as a field technician, I aided in completing cone penetration tests, seismic cone penetration tests, UVIF cone penetration test, vane shear strength testing, SPTe testing, DCPT testing, auger sampling and direct-push soil sampling, among other tests. After testing was complete, I was responsible for consolidating data and sending it to the office for analysis and completing a field summary of the day's work. I was also an assistant to the rig operator when instrumentation was not needed for the specific test being conducted, such as auger sampling.
