I design, implement, analyze, and present the findings of complex in-field randomized controlled trials to clients who seek the answers to questions such as: 'How can we curb electricity consumption?' 'How can we increase college graduation rates?' 'How can we improve user engagement?' 'How can we increase customer satisfaction?' to name but a few. Our team of dedicated scientists is committed to applying the rigour of academic research practices to applied public and private sector challenges.

In this position I investigated whether the ability to remain focused and sustain attention over time is preserved in healthy aging. By comparing the performance of younger and older adults in various monitoring tasks (searching for target words amongst streams of distracter words), we were able to demonstrate that, contrary to many current theories, older adults are perfectly capable of maintaining their attention over time at least as well as their younger counterparts.

My primary responsibilities included the conception and implementation of original experiments on the topics of sustained attention and human-system interactions. This involves the programming of computer-based laboratory and online tasks, the analysis of the obtained data, and the publication of the findings in peer-reviewed journals.

My responsibilities included the design of both qualitative and quantitative approaches to the study of information foraging in the context of military intelligence analysis.

My Doctoral Dissertation examined the nature of the memory representations that result from simple perceptual interactions with the environment. Specifically, this work demonstrated that complex and long-lasting memory representations are laid down even during fleeting experiences (such as when something catches our eye briefly). Importantly, these memories are created despite the intent to remember, and can influence subsequent interactions with our environments.
