My interest in Aerospace stems from my sense of adventure, enthusiasm for innovation, and love of flying. Seeing creative solutions for challenging problems such as the vertical takeoff/landing system for the F-35 or SpaceX’s new carbon fiber fuel tank drives me to be a part of successful Aerospace company. I believe that my education, internships, and Aerospace Enterprise experience have prepared me for just that.The Aerospace Enterprise at Michigan Tech has exposed me to the systems engineering approach of organizing design projects. For my Senior Design, I am designing the structure for our NASA sponsored CubeSat, Stratus. In addition, I am also leading a team in the re-design of our Air Force sponsored CubeSat, Auris. The design of the structures for these satellites must securely encompass all on-board components while also meeting structural and thermal mission requirements. These projects require my communication with all of our enterprise sub-teams as well as careful time management and project planning.My internships have given me experience in the areas of product development, design for manufacturing, CNC machine simulation, product lifecycle management, and project management. I am familiar with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing as well as a strong CAD modeler, fluent in Solidworks, NX, and Autdesk Inventor.Upon graduation in April of 2017 I hope to attain a full time position with an Aerospace/Defense company. With my background consisting of both CAD design and hands on manufacturing experience, I am very versatile and look forward to applying these skills as a full time engineer.
